Archive for 'Engagements'

Every once in a while I meet an engaged couple who don’t want to have engagement photos taken.   I make it my mission to convince those couples that it’s something they MUST do.  I especially recommend it if a couple books me as their wedding photographer.  A lot of the times I find couples who don’t want to do it at first are self-proclaimed not “picture people” but I believe that’s exactly why they must do engagement photos before their wedding.  I’ll save my reasons for a separate blog post, but whether they’re “picture people” or not I promise that engagement sessions are actually super fun.  Well, with me anyway haha ;).  I guess the convincing worked on Tracy and Nick because a couple days after they booked me for their wedding I heard back and the engagement session was on.   They chose Golden Gardens Park in Seattle for the shoot location.  It couldn’t have been a more perfect evening to start the Seattle summer with.  I can’t express enough how glad I am we were able to do this and I can’t wait for their wedding in less than a month.

Our  first engagement session of the year and we got blessed with a rare sunny February day.  Chakrya and Rob chose a small park in Seattle’s Magnolia neighborhood to start the day.  When we arrived we discovered that the neighborhood kids were also out enjoying the bright light that was beaming from the sky.  Yes, we had to wait our turns to get on the swings!  There was an amazing view of downtown Seattle from the park, but we wanted to get closer so later on we made our way to Queen Anne to one of my favorite little places to shoot.  I couldn’t ask for a more fun and adventurous pair to work with to start off the year.  I’m so excited and can’t wait for their farm wedding this summer!

I’m finally using a new slideshow program that I got earlier this year, but just now learning/playing with it.  So far I’m loving it!  Check out Penny + Danny’s engagement session slideshow.

Penny and Danny are getting married in less than two weeks.  When we first met, Penny warned me that Danny doesn’t like taking pictures and they weren’t sure if engagement pictures was something they wanted to do.  Well, engagement photos are my favorite to shoot so of course I had to convince them.  I learned that Danny likes to fish and that Penny enjoys going to Discovery Park with the students she works with.  I decided to combine both ideas and picked out the Fishermen’s Terminal and Discovery Park as their engagement session locations.  It was a beautiful day in Seattle…. like we actually had sun!  Haha.  We also had a lot of fun.  Danny did great and I would’ve never guessed that he hates getting his pictures taken.  Penny just couldn’t stop laughing.   These two are so into each other and it was really cute!  This is one of the reasons why I love photographing engagement sessions.

I’m so excited for this blog post.  If there is anyone who is more deserving of all the love and happiness going on right now it would be Tara & Josh. When you know, you just know… and Tara knew Josh was the one.  When I first heard about this person name Josh making his way into Tara’s life and seeing the way it made her smile in a blissful kind of way whenever she talked about him, you couldn’t help but feel something remarkable happening.  Then it happened.  Josh proposed to Tara!  These two have so much in store ahead of them and it’s nice to know they will have each other for the adventure they’ll soon embark upon.  This engagement shoot was a freezing one with snow flurries at times.  Good thing they had each other to cozy up with.  We love you guys and we can’t wait for the wedding!!!
